January: Start of New Training Year
The start of the new training year is an exciting time as you welcome new students and begin enrolling them for the upcoming year. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the previous year, review your training and assessment strategies, and make any necessary changes.

February: AVETMISS RTO Compliance Deadline
The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) conducts compliance audits to ensure that RTOs meet all the necessary standards and requirements. February is a good time for your RTO to review your processes so you can prepare for these audits. Plus, the last day of February is the submission deadline for the Total VET Activity AVETMISS data. Ensure you’ve collected and submitted all the required data before the month ends.

March: CEO Annual Declaration Month
March is a busy month for RTOs. CEOs must submit their annual declaration of compliance at the end of the month. Insources also has its Annual Declaration on Compliance workshop in early March, gathering compliance specialists to help you better prepare before the RTO compliance deadline.

June: Quality Indicator Data Submission, ITEC23 Conference and End of Fiscal Year
June is an opportunity for RTOs to connect with their learners and employers through the submission of the Quality Indicator Data. Aside from the student’s personal and academic data, ASQA also requires RTOs to hand in the results of their learner engagement and employer satisfaction survey by sending them to Qidata@asqa.gov.au.
Giving your RTO the information to excel through collaboration, the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia is hosting the ITEC23 Conference. Senior executives from skills training and higher education are joining the exciting conference to help you develop new thinking about how collaboration can help your RTO.

RTOs are required to report enrolment and completion data to ASQA regularly. July is a good time to provide mid-year updates and ensure that all data is accurate and up to date.
Meanwhile, NCVER’s National VET Research Conference ‘No Frills’ is back this 2023 and will happen in person. Co-hosted with RMIT University in Melbourne, the 32nd ‘No Frills’ conference will be held from 19 to 21 July 2023 at the RMIT University Melbourne City Campus. It’s a must-attend event for anyone in the VET sector, as it plays a crucial role in NCVER’s engagement with the industry. Educators, researchers, policymakers, RTO leaders and industry bodies are expected to attend this year’s conference.

19 to 21 July - National VET Research Conference ‘No Frills’
August: National Skills Week and EduTECH
Aiming to raise awareness of the importance of skills development, the fourth week of August is allotted to National Skills Week. The event aims to change the negative perceptions around VET, showcase opportunities within VET, and draw attention to new skills and trends in the industry. For RTOs, national skills week is the ideal event to promote your organisation. Besides talking to VET experts, you can get involved by planning an event and submitting it as part of national skills week.
